Movember Nails

It's the time of year where men all over the world are letting their beard grow and women har painting moustaches on their nails. It's Movember. But what does that actually mean? Why do we "celebrate" Movember? Do people actually know? I tried asking a few people and while they were aware that it's "some sort of awareness for mens cancer" they couldn't quite put their finger on what kind of cancer "mens cancer" is. So for the people out there who's not quite sure why it's Movember here goes:

Movember (a portmanteau word from moustache and November) is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers; and associated charities. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com. The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health."

Today I want to show you the design I made for Movember.

I painted my ring- and middelfinger with OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape and the rest of them with OPI - Ogre-The-Top Blue. I was actually a bit suprised when I applied those 2 because they were nothing like most of the other OPI's I have. They both had a very thin/watery formula which also made them more sheer. GGG took 4 coats to get opaque and OTTB took 3. The drying time was great though, so it wasn't a big problem that they needed more coats.

I chose to do only one moustache on the middlefinger and then doing the blue bow for prostate cancer on my ringfinger, since this comes close to my heart. My father-in-law died 7 years ago after loosing the fight against prostate cancer.

For the rest of the fingers I chose make dots.

I hope you like the design.
